Welcome

Whether you’re having trouble transferring your book from your brain to the page or getting ready to publish, I can help you put your best foot forward. Writing and editing are my passions and beautiful, concise prose my goal.
My name is Meghan Stoll, and I am a freelance book editor. My job is to help you make your manuscript the best it can be, down to the last comma. I’m committed to working with you to perfect your writing—while preserving your unique style and voice, of course.
After earning a B.A. in literature, I began my career as a tutor of reading and writing and transitioned to professional writing and editing. I have worked on the editorial team at a traditional book publishing company, as a proofreader at a national healthcare company, as a ghostwriter for an entrepreneurial nonfiction book writing company, as a web content writer for small local businesses… the list goes on. Since 2016 I have focused largely on book manuscript editing.
I love collaborating with independent authors on their passion projects! I accept most genres of fiction and nonfiction, though my specialties (and personal favorites) are literary fiction, women’s fiction, general fiction, fantasy, memoir, personal/career development, and spirituality/religion.
What are my credentials?
I LOVE reading and editing. I put 100% of my dedication and ability into every project I take on.
I’m a writer myself, of short stories and literary analysis. I feel your pain, fellow authors. Get to know my original writing on my literary blog.
I’ve been editing professionally for the past six years since earning my B.A. in literature. I’m an active member of the Editorial Freelancers’ Association, which is the largest professional association within the industry in the U.S.
My reference materials include the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th Ed. and the Merriam-Webster dictionary, both of which are the standard in trade book publishing in the U.S.
I pride myself on the satisfaction of my clients and would be happy to provide references.

When I’m not working, reading, or writing, I am researching cool places in faraway lands where I’ll someday reside. For now, I’m based in Charlotte, North Carolina. If you have any questions about my services, feel free to ask me!
